John D. Oliverio, Board Chair

Mr. Oliverio serves as the Chair of the Covenant Health Board of Directors. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the US province of the Wheaton Franciscans, sponsors of the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters. He brings to this position service as former President and Chief Executive Officer of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, a Catholic, not-for-profit organization with 14 hospital sites including more than 1,500 staffed beds, more than 17,000 associates, over 500 medical group physicians and a housing ministry with 2,620 units in Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado and Illinois. Mr. Oliverio’s professional accomplishments include leading organizations in the successful development of integrated delivery systems across markets, expansion of physician services, and nurturing innovative physician partnerships. He also brings to Covenant Health a deep commitment to Mission, Vision and Values in service patients, employees, providers, and communities.

Mr. Oliverio holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, in Evanston, Ill. as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University in Chicago, Ill. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. He has also been committed to various civic organizations over his career in addition to service on other health system boards, state hospital association boards and community boards.

Mr. Oliverio has been a member of the Covenant Health board since 2011and has served on the audit, executive, compensation, finance and quality/safety committees. “As Board Chair, I am excited by the opportunity to serve with a dedicated group of community leaders to focus on improving the health of our communities and the patients and residents we serve.
