Covenant names Katherine Bechtold, RN, MHA, Chief Nursing Officer


It is with great pleasure that Covenant Health announces the appointment of Katherine Bechtold, RN, MHA, to
the position of Chief Nursing Officer for Covenant Health. In this newly created position, Kate will
have direct responsibility for, and provide overall organization and strategic direction to our nursing
management team. Her focus will include the development, implementation, and coordination of
programs and initiatives that combine to provide consistent, optimum patient care across our system. She will serve as a mentor and resource to our nurse leaders, and will utilize her considerable skill set to ensure that the quality, safety and efficacy of patient care meets the highest standards.

Kate brings to this position extensive experience as Chief Nursing Officer in several settings. Most
recently, she served as Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Cooley
Dickinson Hospital in Northampton (MA). For several years, she served as Senior Vice President and
Chief Nurse Executive for a not-for-profit health care system in Washington State comprised of 9200+ employees including 550 providers. Kate also served in a senior nursing leadership capacity for the largest healthcare network in Colorado encompassing 13 hospitals and a home division that served seven senior living communities.

Kate earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Wyoming in
Laramie (WY) and her Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of
Denver. She is a Certified Nurse Executive (NE-BC) and has completed significant coursework through the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is a member of several professional associations and has served as a board member for many not-for-profit organizations. For the past three years Kate attended the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship program, graduating September 2016.
