Reynold G. Spadoni Appointed Vice President, Mission

07.12.2017

It is with great pleasure that Covenant Health announces the appointment of Reynold G. Spadoni as Vice President, Mission.  In this key leadership position, Rey will be responsible for integrating Covenant's Mission and Values into all aspects of our organization and work.  He is charged with the responsibility of developing and implementing meaningful mission integration strategies, initiatives and formation programs across the system and will provide guidance for leadership and staff on a wide variety of mission, pastoral and ethical issues.

Rey brings to this position extensive executive healthcare management experience and a true understanding of Catholic identity and mission derived from his many years of service as a Catholic deacon.  He also comes to Covenant Health with a working knowledge of our system having served as a member of the Executive Committee of Covenant Health Systems from 1997-1999.

In 2004, Rey was ordained as a Permanent Deacon by the Archdiocese of Boston following successful completion of a diaconate formation program.  This training included coursework taught by the St. John's seminary faculty, guided retreats, spiritual direction and periodic formation workshops on a variety of theological and pastoral ministry related topics.  He is presently assigned as a Global Fellow to Catholic Relief Services and serves as a resource to the Archdiocese on issues pertaining to the pastoral response to domestic abuse.  Rey has led retreats to seminarians and parishioners throughout the Archdiocese of Boston and has also served as a member of the Diaconate Review Board which interviews and recommends candidates for ordination for His Eminence, Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley, OFM, Cap, Archbishop of Boston.

In addition to his ministry, Rey has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, both large and small, on the provider and payer sides, and has amassed great insight into the complexity and evolving state of the industry.  He comes to Covenant most recently from his tenure as President of Partners HealthCare at Home, a position he assumed after his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Vising Nurse Association of Boston & Affiliates.

Rey is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.  He earned his MBA from Boston University and is a graduate of Boston College's Leadership for Change Program. He is the recipient of numerous employer awards recognizing his leadership and service, and has served as a Board member for several organizations.
