Top Performing Clinician to Assume Physician Leadership Role

Alison C. Madden, M.D.NASHUA, NH – May 28, 2019 – Following an extensive search, St. Joseph Hospital announced today the appointment of Alison C. Madden, M.D., as Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Joseph Hospital effective May 20, 2019.

“We are delighted to have someone with Dr. Madden’s breadth of expertise and experience join St. Joseph Hospital in this important role,” said Douglas C. Waite, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “Dr. Madden will provide excellent leadership for our medical staff in Nashua and will be a great asset as we work to provide our patients with the very best care and experience possible. In addition, she will be lending her clinical expertise to our specialty practice of OB/GYN to support her colleagues and their patients.”

Chosen for her experience as a clinician and leader, Dr. Madden most recently served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. There she provided leadership on a range of issues including quality, patient safety, medical staff peer review and credentialing. She also spearheaded many multi-disciplinary teams developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives within the Women’s Health service line.

I’m excited to both lead and work alongside the team as we do just that.”

Dr. Madden holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Barnard College, Columbia University and completed her post-baccalaureate premedical courses at Hunter College. She studied medicine at Cornell University and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Dr. Madden has received numerous awards for her work in academics, where she has been very active as a professor, researcher, writer and lecturer. She has also been honored for teaching excellence in her roles as an assistant clinical professor at the Universities of Massachusetts, Hawaii and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at UCLA.
