Covenant Health Welcomes Donald Clark as Its New Controller

Covenant Health is pleased to welcome Donald Clark, CPA, MBA, as its new controller. In his role, Clark will be responsible for the accounting and budgeting reporting function of the health system. Specifically, he will oversee the development of the system’s monthly consolidated financial and statistical reports, the establishment and maintenance of the organization’s accounting principles, the preparation of 990 and tax returns, the interface with the internal and the external auditors and maintenance of effective internal controls.

“Donald is an innovative and well-organized financial leader with a solid track record of financial staff development within physician group practices, health plans and hospitals,” said Stephen Forney, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “His extensive experience in operational improvements, revenue cycle design, internal controls implementation and benchmarking will be a tremendous asset to our entire health system.”

With more than 35 years’ experience, Donald comes to Covenant Health from Cape Cod Healthcare where he served as their controller and led the financial team in managing all areas of financial and accounting policies and systems, internal controls and work-flow processes, tax and regulatory requirements and budgeting for an integrated delivery network of two acute care hospitals, a multi-specialty physician group practice, home care and hospice services, behavioral health, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and an assisted living facility. Earlier in his career, he served as an audit manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston for 12 years.

Donald is a certified public accountant and earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University and his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley University. He is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Massachusetts Society of CPAs, Health Care Financial Management Association and American College of Health Care Executives.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my background and experience to Covenant Health and I’m excited about working with a dynamic leadership team and health system who are leaders in values-based, not-for-profit health and elder care,” said Clark.
