Rick Lugli, J.D., Joins Covenant Health as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel


Rick LugliCovenant Health recently welcomed Rick Lugli, J.D., as its new Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. In this integral role, he will work directly with senior management to plan, direct and manage legal services to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

“Rick is a seasoned healthcare lawyer. In addition to his legal skills, Rick brings more than 30 years of practical experience in healthcare operations and development. He knows the industry and consistently finds practical solutions to issues. His forte lies in strategic and operational leadership of large provider systems, combining effective regulatory compliance measures with sound business models,” said John Newman, Esq., Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “I look forward to leveraging his expertise to further enhance our system’s operations and services to the community.”

Before joining Covenant Health, Lugli was in private practice as a healthcare attorney in Connecticut and also spent several years as the Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Prohealth Physicians and Optumcare Network of Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut, which is a 400+ physician group with $200 million in annual revenue and 90 practice locations throughout Connecticut.

Lugli earned his Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of Connecticut Law School in Hartford, Connecticut and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Amherst College in Amherst, Mass.
